Inspired by a bhajan with a similar opening that Ravikiran heard being rendered by Hindustani vocal legend Pt Jasraj in a concert in Seattle in 1988. Ravikiran tried to find recordings of the same to learn it for years before deciding to use just the same tune and words in the opening phrase of the song.  The rest of the song follows a different path from the original.
