Lakshmi Prabhavam

Lakshmi Prabhavam is probably the first ever full dance creation in Indian culture highlighting the Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi. It was also the first operatic dance creation of Ravikiran and was initiated by the Cleaveland Tyagaraja Festival in 1994. Due to organizational reasons, this 80-raga, four language production (Tamil, Telugu, Sanskri and Hindi) magnum opus was premiered in Toronto and Cleveland only in early 1997 but the sell out show in Cleveland resulted in an encore the very next week, after which the production toured extensively with 20-25 concerts in major venues in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Miami, San Francisco Bay Area and other cities. The 23-member team included 11 dancers and 6 musicians - K N Shashikiran & Kiranavali (Lead Vocal), Dr Prapancham Sitaraman (flute), Chitravina Ganesh (Vocal & Chitravina), Vijayaraghavan (Mrdangam) & Parthasarathy (Spl effects), besides the choreographer Guru Rhadha and diverse production team members.
