Mahishi starts harassing everyone and finally, Lord Vishnu comes to their rescue and suggests that Devas invite Asuras to churn the ocean of milk to recover “Amrta”, the nectar of immortality. However, a quarrel breaks out between Devas and Asuras in sharing the nectar. Therefore Lord Vishnu assumes the form of a beautiful maiden woman called “Mohini” to entice the Asuras away from the nectar. Shiva himself succumbs to the beauty of Mohini.
