Service through music, Service through music

Ravikiran Foundation of India

is a non-profit organisation founded by Ravikiran (when he was 23 years old) with a motto of ‘Service to Music; Service through Music.’  Through its various affiliate and sub-organizations including the International Foundation for Carnatic Music (IFCM), OVK Research Center, Melharmony Foundation, Acharyanet and Musopathy Foundation, RFI has endeavoured to conduct activities aligned to its various objectives over the last few decades.  These include endeavouring to:

  • Project and protect the best of Indian Classical Music through concerts, lectures, publications, courses and camps, online music education programs. These have benefited artists, art lovers and students in numerous countries.
  • Promote mutual appreciation, goodwill and peace between peoples of diverse countries and regions and actively work towards multi-cultural harmony.
  • Inspire Governments to initiate Music Education in Schools and Rural Empowerment through Music and Arts programs for children of underprivileged backgrounds
  • Honour senior artists as well as active performers and support emerging artists and students through its Musicians’ Benevolent Fund and Musicians’ Covid Relief Fund, which was launched in 2019 during the pandemic but renamed in 2023 as Musicians Emergency Relief Fund).
  • Conduct or Support Research in fields including Music for Health and Wellbeing using the cutting edge, scientific approach of Musopathy that Ravikiran introduced around 1995, as opposed to arbitrary ones seen in traditional Music Therapy
  • Inspire Government & Citizens’ Climate Action to combat the Climate Change Crisis through Planet Symphony for Environment

With the legendary Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer as its first president, the foundation embraced the 3-E formula of Exposure, Education and Excellence and many of its initiatives set benchmarks in the world of culture
