Pattavataram eduttu (Dashavatara Sapta Ragamalika)

Ragamalika

Ādi

This unique 7-segment piece in Tamil traverses through 7 Ragas with the first and last segments being general while the other 5 cover two each of Vishnu’s 10 incarnations (Dasha avataras).  The entire song employs rhyme and word play using ‘tt’ like pattu, muttu, vittu or close variants.  Unlike usual krtis, this piece is meant to be rendered in a continuous flow without going back to the opening segment.  Ravikiran has also composed another piece on this theme but that employs 5 languages (Pancha Bhasha) and 5 ragas (Pancha Raga Bhasha Malika). Besides, he also composed 10 songs which highlight each of the incarnations separately.
